Statewide hardwood installation
Hardwood Installation, done the Maryland way
Hardwood installation is the same craft everywhere in Maryland and a different job in every house. A 1920s Chevy Chase colonial needs new oak milled and laced into century-old strip so the seam disappears; a 2019 Clarksburg townhome needs engineered plank floated correctly over a slab. We spec the wood to the home, not to a catalog, and the number we write after a free in-home measure is the number you pay.
On main living levels across Bethesda, Potomac, and Rockville, resale still favors real wood, so most of our work here is solid or site-finished white oak. Over concrete and below grade — condos, basements, and slab-on-grade additions in Silver Spring and Fulton — engineered hardwood is the only correct answer, and we'll tell you plainly which your foundation supports before you put down a deposit.

Why one local crew
The person who measures your floor is the person who quotes it
We're a flooring crew, not a franchise. Every quote is fixed and honored for 60 days, with no day-two "we found something" surcharges unless you approve them in writing first. We've been laying, sanding, and rescuing Maryland floors since 2009, and most of our work now comes from referrals inside the same neighborhoods — the only marketing metric we really trust.

Hardwood Installation cost in Maryland
Installed pricing (material plus labor) typical across Maryland. Prefinished floors go down for less; site-finished and wide-plank cost more but read seamless. Subfloor prep, if needed, is itemized before work begins — never after.

Maryland installation questions, answered
How much does it cost to install hardwood floors in Maryland?
Most Maryland installations land between $7 and $14 per square foot installed, depending on wood species, board width, and subfloor prep. A typical 500 sq ft main level runs roughly $4,000-$7,000 all-in. We quote fixed prices after a free in-home measure, and the number we write is the number you pay.
Should I choose solid or engineered hardwood?
It depends on what the floor sits on. Solid ¾" hardwood goes over plywood on or above grade; engineered hardwood is the correct choice over concrete slab or below grade, and it's the sound-rated option most condo buildings require. We check your subfloor and grade level and tell you which your home supports during the estimate, not after the deposit.
How much does it cost to replace carpet with hardwood?
Carpet removal is a small line item; the cost is the hardwood itself, so budget the same $7-$14 per square foot installed. Pulling carpet often reveals original oak worth refinishing instead of replacing — if that's your house, refinishing is a fraction of the price and we'll tell you.
Can you match new hardwood to my existing floors?
Yes — lacing new boards into an existing floor is a large share of our work. We match species, board width, and grain grade, weave the new boards into the old field rather than butting a transition strip, and finish both as one continuous floor so the seam disappears.
How long does hardwood installation take?
Prefinished installs run 1-3 days for a main level; site-finished floors add 3-4 days for sanding, stain, and finish cure. We schedule next-day starts when slots are open, and every quote includes a written day-by-day timeline.
